Perfect Pancakes

Since these pancakes have been one of the first recipes worth being called that, I have made them time and time again. But every time again, they are surprisingly easy to make and always turn out well-tasting!

Ingredients

  • ¾ cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp mineral water
  • Maple syrup and random fruits for garnishing

Preparation

  1. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  2. Melt half of the butter in a pan.
  3. Whisk milk, egg, melted butter and mineral water into the flour mixture.
  4. Heat a flat skillet up to medium heat.
  5. For each pancake: Melt a fifth of the remaining butter in the skillet, scoop in a fifth of the pancake batter (approximately half a cup) and cook until it starts bubbling, Then flip and cook until golden brown.
  6. Serve with maple syrup and seasonal fruit. (Works best with strawberries, red currants or blueberries.
